Because COFFEE MATTERS

School requirements are making all of us exhausted. From shooting for photography to doing our tasks for our minor subjects and starting tomorrow, we will be busy making props for our upcoming photo exhibit. At the end of the day, we just feel drained. The only motivating factor I guess that keeps all of us going is the fact that it’s just less than a month before the semester ends and graduate. Wooohooo 🙂

Because of these, we tend to get pressured and stressed. That is why we decided to squeeze-in in our schedule a distressing activity. What else than to EAT!

Ally and I decided to try Coffee Matters today. It is located at the PhilHealth Building along Leonardwood Road. We have been seeing it but never really got to try it. So today is the perfect chance to visit the place.

The interior is simple and the place for me personally is not that spacious. A plus was that there are photos of some of their products on the glass walls and their cost. So before you enter, you get an idea of their offerings and how much it will cost you to eat there.

They also have tarpaulins of their menu at the ordering area. This makes an easy scanning of their menu. I also like how they use some military words to name their drinks.

The place may be called Coffee Matters, but I didn’t order coffee, rather I ordered their Airlines which is a dark chocolate drink. Alex ordered the same thing. With that, I also ordered their Clubhouse Sandwich while Alex got their hamburger.

Our orders:

My Clubhouse Sandwich and Airlines Drink
IMG_5861
First my clubhouse sandwich. Typical sandwich. It’s very filling because of the loaves of wheat bread and 2 pieces of ham. For its price of 55 pesos, this will surely fill you up. I just wish there were chips on the side. hahaha

The Airlines or the Dark Chocolate Drink. First of all, there is no dark chocolatey flavor in this drink. When I see the word dark chocolate, the first thing that comes to mind is the rich somewhat bitter taste of chocolate. But no, this drink is sweet. Very sweet actually for my taste. It taste like Swiss Miss with a little more sugar and milk. I was not happy with my drink. Sigh.

Here is a photo of Alex’s Burgers. Hahaha.

In the end, what made me like Coffee Matters is their price point. It is not that expensive which is good for people who are on a budget. They also have a wide selection of drinks and food customers could try. Plus, the names of their drinks are so cool and catchy. Hhhhmmm come to think of it, they could make their coffee shop a military themed place. Well, they already started using military terms on their menu, why not reflect that on their whole setting. This way, it would set them apart from other coffee shops. Just my opinion. Hahaha xD

Let’s get chubby at Chubby Bib’s

This was supposed to be a girls’ date. But apparently, the 2 ladies have something else to do. So, as always, it was just me and Alex. Hahaha.

Where to go? Where to chill?

We chose, CHUBBY BIB’S

It’s along Leonard Wood Road. Just below Grumpy Joe. Actually it looks like a twin of Grumpy Joe.

I like their interior- Earth tones, wooden, basically rustic design.

Apparently, when we went there, I guess they’re having a problem with their water supply. But they said that it will be back at around 4:30 or 5. I looked at my watch and it’s already four in the afternoon. And because we’re already there anyway, we said we’ll just wait.

We took our sit by the window. Then kuya, came to us with the menu.

Chubby Bib’s Menu 🙂

It’s really nice for kuya to take us through the menu.  He tells us their best sellers, what we should try, what is in them and the like.  That made it easy and fast for us to choose what to order (which is very rare. Hahaha). Some of their menu items are not available. But it’s okay. As what kuya said, it’s only been a week sice they’ve opened. Basically they are in the testing the waters kind of stage.

Waiting… Waiting… Waiting..

I don’t know how many minutes had gone by, but they still have water issues. They came back to our table saying their apologies. But they said we could already order some drinks. Kuya, a while back, suggested that we should try their milkshakes. Cause that’s the one they’re “pushing.” Hahaha. So yeah, we ordered the milkshakes. I ordered the Blueberry Pie Milkshake while Ally ordered their Milo Malt Milkshake.

It wasn’t that very long for the milkshakes to arrive at our table.

First sip of my Blueberry Pie Milkshake, hhhmmm blueberry. Next sip, yuum taste like blueberry cheesecake. The next, wooow this is really creamy. This milkshake is very addictive. Like every sip of it, you just want more and more of it. I was very sad when I drank all my milkshake. I even told Alex if I could get a refill or something. Hahahaha

After a few more minutes, I think it was past five, when the water delivery came. Which means, they already have the water to cook, which means we can order and eat. Wooohooo!!!

So we already placed our orders. I ordered Chicken schnitzel with The Bib’s Special Sauce and a Potato Salad Side.

The chicken was okay. What made it was the sauce. The sauce is tangy, sweet, actually I can’t describe it. It has a lot of layers that the sauce almost has a different taste with my every bite. This is clearly one very special sauce. On the other hand, they give a pretty big serving of their sides. I didn’t even finish my potato salad because I was already full. The only thing I am not happy about my potato salad was that it needs a little salt. Though there’s a salt shaker on the table, it’s still different (for me at least) if you put the salt while cooking. But it’s all good.

After we have finished eating and paid the bill, kuya came over to our table and asked us about the food we just ate. A little hesitant but I know they need our honest opinion for the betterment of their menu. As I said earlier, they’re testing the waters. What ever I said here, pretty much is what I said to kuya.

When we thought our dining experience at Chubby Bib’s was about to end, kuya came back with fries. Hahahaha xD

I think he gave it for an opinion. Well the fries needs a little salt. The dip though was a little too garlicy for our taste. Like Bam! Garlic! And it overpowers everything. We didn’t have time to tell our opions on the fries to kuya so we just left him a note. Hahaha.

We’ll definetly be back to try the rest of their food offerings and their milkshakes of course.

So if you’re looking for a new place to eat here in Baguio, try Chubby Bib’s! And don’t forget to try their milkshakes. Hahaha 🙂

Battling the Cold Weather

“Baby it’s called outside…” na na na
The holidays may be over. I may be back at school for my last semester (yes I claim it, yaayyy!!). But I’m still not over the holidays. How can I be over it if the cold weather still reminds me of it. Huhuhu..

The cold weather is making it hard for me to go to school. Though my class starts at 11:30 and 1:30. Hahaha. But still, I have to wake up early cause I’m a turtle 🐢 hahaha

Because I’m back at school, I’m back going around town and finding good foods that will warm me this cold weather.

First find:

WHITE CHOCOLATE AND DARK CHOCOLATE CHAMPORADO WITH TUYO ON THE SIDE and Caffe Latte at PATCH CAFE
One of the comfort foods of the Filipinos during the cold weather. In my 19 years of existence, I have never tried to eat champorado with tuyo. Hahaha. Though they say it’s a perfect combination.

Grabbed at my instagram because the original photo was deleted. Hahaha

Cool presentation of their champorado. The yin part is the sweet one and the yang part is a little bitter. When I tasted the champorado with the tuyo, it was amazingly complimentary. Hahaha. The saltiness of the Tuyo just cuts the sweetness and bitterness of the Champorado. But, I still prefer my Champorado with milk. Lot’s of milk. Hahaha. But it was a good first time combination for me.

Second find:

RAMEN at ZUSHI ME

2015/01/img_5480.jpg

Ok so I seriously forgot the name of this Ramen. Hahaha sorry. Any kind of noodles with hot broth is always perfect for the cold weather. What I love about these Ramen is the egg. Hahaha. But I’m serious. It’s not too hard nor too soft but just right. The broth is a little sweet but there’s still the savoriness of it. The noodles is a little over cooked for me. Or maybe it has already been over cooked because I have not eaten it straight when it was served. I have to wait for Ally’s order, so that we could take a picture together. Hahaha xD But overall, it’s a good Ramen. Might as well try their sushi the next time we go there with Fran. (Cause I know she’ll love it there because it’s Japanese) hahaha.

Anyway, that’s how I battled the cold weather for the first week of classes.

So you, what foods help you battle the cold weather? 😉
